Human body movement in a computer game

10 March 2023

Virtual and augmented reality present a special challenge for the students and teachers of the School Centre Celje. They help them with spatial modelling, machine control, splicing and capturing body movements for computer games, among other things.

As part of Work Package 2.3, the School Centre Celje team is playing with different tools and methods for blended learning, especially augmented and virtual reality technology. In the Spatial Modelling and Documentation course, students learn how to assemble 3D models into assemblies and mechanisms. They use AR (Augmented Reality) technology to assist and visualise more complex 3D models. This technology gives them insight into the correct assembly of a product.

In mechanical engineering lessons, students use, among other things, AR guides and instructions for operating the machine.

You can try the guide HERE.

In Computer Networking, students use special devices and digital technology to learn how to connect and set up computers on a computer network, splice fibre optic wires and earth wires using the aluminothermic splicing process.

In addition to modelling, students in the Computer Science Technician programme also try their hand at capturing the movement of the human body. The photos show an example of capturing the movement of the human head. The facial mimic is then recognised by the computer and applied to the 3D model. This can then be transferred to an environment for use in a computer game or virtual world.
